This was always a difficult part of my work as a mental health nurse. So many support phone lines & various services triage to each other as actual evidence based interventions by trained & experienced mental health nurses & other clinicians are getting more & more thin on the ground. #mentalhealth
The health outcome is not determined by how many patients go to Accident & Emergency.
The health outcome is whether patients receive good care.
It is far from clear that triaging patients by phone to services with lengthy waiting lists achieves this.
