Have never tuned in but have on the odd occasion heard "Mr 1950s"
as background noise.
Get on the bus, son.
The world has moved on.

I didn't think much of it at the time but it's stuck with me.
It was only a bit of beach.
I can't imagine how you'd feel if it was your home and land.

In 1967 my girlfriend and I went to Bondi Beach.
Was a weekday and not many ppl there.
We dropped our towels about 20m from a group of youths (half a dozen, so).
One of them shouted at us "this is a Jewish reserved area!" or something similar.
I knew that wasn't correct and said so.
Was I wrong...?

Mid-60s - grade above me on their final day lifted a teacher's Mini-Minor onto 4 garbage bins.

My brother used to say that's how you could tell a gentleman.

Reminds me of the time I offered to assist a mate (no, not me) sort through 7 years of business paperwork.
He'd been contacted by the tax office suggesting he organise his back taxes.
I knew we were in trouble on arrival at his home-office.
Guided through to his loungeroom instead of the office.

C'mon Hal... just the once?

Fair enough.
I thought the procedure might have been different between States.

Is your eye test and medical done separately?
My local GP (Brisbane) does the lot.
Actually, clinic nurse oversees the eye test and questionnaire.
GP reviews results, does peripheral vision test and signs off on it.

I would have told them no deal.
Much less involved but I had a buyer wait for me to dismantle and load an item into their car.
They then offered me $20 (because that's all they had "on them") instead of the $25 agreed on.
Took it back out of the car.
They "found" the extra $5 but too late.
Next!

Yes.
I have the same level of interest in Jews as I have in Catholics or Protestants or any other faith, ie very little.
I have no doubt the vast majority of Australians are the same.
Zionists however are racing up the interest chart.

In my defence it took 4 goes to manipulate a screenshot.
In the circumstances I probably deserve a "hopeful"
January 2, 2026 at 12:02 AM
Yeah, I'm pleased as well, lol.

Me neither but I don't think that negates the generalisation?

A variation on "the younger generation has it too easy".
Said by every older generation.

When feeling a bit 'off' my grandfather would have a teaspoon of sugar with a few drops of kerosene in it.
Swore by it.
Lived till age 96.

My first job (mid-1960s) was trainee COBOL programmer.
Each year a couple of wags would compile a list of fellow employees accompanied by a "funny" sentence about each.
Read out at the office xmas party.
My 2nd year as follows - "How can someone be here so long and know so little?"
Humiliating!

After a full 10 seconds deliberation I've changed my mind.
No apostrophe.
