So last night while upgrading through Terraform versions because we were still on version 1.4.7 - and what could go wrong? Well I managed to scale down all of our services to 0 (ZERO) for more than a few minutes until I fixed a migration issue and a befuddling deploy script bug.

I love Terraform. Right up until the point where all it does is make me rage against my machine until I fix one dumb entry or make the proper migration hinted by a horrible error message and then I love it again!

At a time when I was expecting to be broadening our target photographer market at Photivo.com, this year we’ve actually decided to narrow our focused growth areas; specifically on established higher-end photographers. Which is a little scary, but also feels awesome!

Are people who excel on the marketing side of SAAS just naturally good at it, or did you learn or just force it over time? Because I’m looking to hire a team to make up for how much I suck at it and $$$$$ FK! But what’s the point of solving a problem if you can’t sell it?

Software testing is hard! Yesterday the battery in my wife’s new SUV had a battery “failure”, 👍 volts / 👎 amps. The cars software, threw a failure on every single system check on start and then basically hard crashed & disabled the car w/ no message. All because of a failed pre-ignition unit test.

There is just something special about waking up to your refrigerator’s compressor having failed overnight. Packed with groceries and leftovers. What an expensive day it’s gonna be.

✨ You know it's funny? Among all the fancy tech I work with daily, it's TailwindCSS that brings me the most joy! Sometimes the simplest tools make the biggest impact. It's not the flashiest part of a stack, but man, does it really effect how I build front-end code and makes me oddly happy to use! 💙

Reality check: Applied to 40+ jobs in 3wks w/ 2 decades of experience and marquee names on my resume. Zero call backs. Yet one well written critical post on LinkedIn w/ 80K+ views netted 4 solid leads. The traditional job hunt is broken. Social media engagement is the cover letter and I'm not a fan!

I'm really disappointed to see Next.js continue to gain such popularity. It feels completely unnecessary and pointless in most tech stacks. Then to top it off Vercel seems to have hijacked ReactJS's priority shaping. I could totally see them screwing up React now. #ReactJS #NextJS #TechTrends

Finding myself undoing some data structure decisions tonight 😦. I dig my old-school paper journal for planning, but sometimes I let myself skip steps when the pace picks up. Fellow lean teams, where do you land between improv and detailed planning? How do you keep track? #TechLife #SoloFounder

🥋 Every day on the mat, I aim to suck just a little bit less, pushing through discomfort and injury. As a startup founder juggling multiple ventures, the principle holds: growth stems from persistence, resilience, and the courage to face each challenge. #BJJ #StartupLife #GrowthMindset 💪🌊

Working during my son's BJJ class, mine is next. This weekend I'm battling with getting self-fulfillment completed. I made so many decisions a 1yr ago that I wish I could change, but I don't have the time to refactor. So many hard lessons with a multi-vendor product management system to consider!
