i want to go into next year maintaining that spark of motivation, that's my highest priority, but if i can also manage to pick up more artistic discipline (color theory so evil wtf) along the way i'll be even prouder for it. 🥺

i realized that i've been relying on an old way of doing things that i was vaguely unhappy with, and i started experimenting more and more. the latter half of this year has been an ongoing process of allowing myself to try and loosen up a little.

but as i allowed myself to feel more comfortable in my solidifying home situation, my motivation to create for myself slowly came back around. july's piece ended up being my favorite because it was a drastic shift on how i create art and it happened completely by accident through experimentation.

january and to some extent february was the tail-end of that stretch. february's piece only half-counts even, because it was an already year-old sketch i had only gotten around to coloring around that time!

at the end of last year i was drawing pretty much strictly to survive off of c0mms, and after i found a full time job my desire to create just completely fell off. it was like jumping from one survival tactic to another and, without exaggeration, i didn't pick up a pencil for months after that.
