Jessica: Before this deal, we essentially were paying 1% on imports with the EU. 15% is more than 1%. I wish Gasparino was sitting here to explain to Jesse how tariffs work because it is a tax on the consumer.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Absolutely. Grind it to a halt.
Murphy: "We need to act like a real opposition party in the middle of a constitutional and democracy crisis. That means we should not be moving forward nominees or legislation in the Senate. Ds should not be giving votes to nominee or legislation in the Senate until Rs get serious about this crisis"

The misdirection and manipulation of the population continues. I am grateful for the curiosity and tenacity of people who are bringing a bit of light to what is happening.

Insanity: The deportation flights Trump used military jets for—that Mexico refused to accept—cost the U.S. up to $852,000 per flight to attempt to deport just 80 migrants at a time.

To compare, flights directly chartered by Immigration and Customs Enforcement cost just $8,577.

The IGs fire back.

Trump might eventually get his way...but don't make it easy for him.

Don't let him circumvent a single law.

Challenge every amoral, unethical, unconstitutional action.

Fight him tooth and nail every step of the way.

I'm sorry but the Dems are ridiculously bad at their Hegspeth questions. IMO, if you want to prove someone is incompetent, you ask them the hardest strategic questions they will have to know to succeed at the job

Yeah, it's depressing to hear stories about looters, arsonists, and those politicizing the fires.

There are also stories about people donating to recovery efforts, opening their homes to strangers, businesses & communities banding together.

Don't let the evildoers dampen your faith in humanity.

At the risk of reading too much into Bluesky’s success at the moment, I do think it’s a signal that people don’t want to be surrounded by bots and manipulated algorithms

AI can only go so far. We want human connection.

Zone 6 checking in, I am planting hard neck garlic this weekend. It's later than I like but I am hoping it's going to be okay. Thoughts?

We had a "volunteer" pop up in our garden and we thought it was a winter squash of some type that we had grown before. Turns out it's a pumpkin and that I probably shouldn't have given it a trellis to climb on. Squirrels do all kinds of crazy things.

Put up 15 pints of tomato sauce tonight. Freezing the tomatoes first is great for getting the extra water out. As they defrost the water just streams out. We also leave the skin on and blend it.

Good morning, the garlic is fermenting nicely, the mixed peppers are also fermenting, although it has only just started. Thursday night as I drifted off to sleep, I scratched a bit and was given a reminder of why wearing gloves while handling hot peppers is important...

Today I ate fresh green beans from our little garden. Planted as a fall cover crop after the garlic came out. So amazing, so good 😊
