Not only will they do so, but all of the robot sales will be carried out in car parks and will be initiated by the Apple employee stepping out of the shadows towards the mark and saying "Hey, c'm'ere, ya gotta see dis!"

I really wasn't expecting the last bit. I have no idea whether it was part of the song or he was responding mid-song to someone he didn't like.

The facebook lookback feature is the one thing that keeps that site from dying. That seven or so year window before google photos turned up. It's a goldmine of nostalgia.

It started when she set her own followers on a teacher that wrote a critical review on goodreads. She accused the reviewer of fabricating quotes even though they were accurate. She also seems to be the one who wont let the issue rest, which invited further harassment for some of her critics.

Just keep in mind all those times from now on when some cad tries slapping your arse without consent and hurts their hand instead.

Or maybe YouTube will want to offer that service themselves? The human artist will still have a role, even if it's to produce more scraping material, but the AI grifter would come a cropper. Perhaps they already know this and are making hay while the sun shines, before the bubble bursts?

And that's where they might meet the end of their grift. If the models that people are turning to for therapy right now becomes able to generate a bespoke video that quotes favourite philosophers and uses the styles of favourite artists and musicians – then there's no need for YouTube.

Also, I should add that making these probably takes a degree of curatorial savvy? The most successful ones have an evenness of tone that makes me think that a human with a particular taste is putting them together and this is where there might be a degree of skill. But could the AI learn taste too?

I think that one thing that might happen is that they will all cancel each other out. Others will notice and try the same thing and the whole feed will be flooded with so much slop that the common factors will become more obvious and then human creations will become more distinct.

There's a weird blend of doom and optimism that I feel about this. It didn't take me long to work it out but others seem to fall for it to the point of gifting $100, though this might also be sleight of hand, the channel paying themself with an alt account to encourage others to do so.

We're talking a 30 minute video essay or a. 10 minute animated self-help monologue, the kind of thing that could never be produced at that rate by a solitary human. They also tend to delete any negative comments so the comments sections tend to be full of praise, even people gifting money.

They had Ben Wheatley do it a while back, who also directed Meg 2 but whose weirder stuff (such as A Field in England) makes Robert Eggers weirder stuff look like Robert Zemeckis in comparison.
