But you’re so on point that McDonald’s forward pressure seemed well above anything KLWT had shown.

I agree, but I just don’t see enough players of her athletic profile and size who are as adept with gathering the ball below the knees. The potential is just so mouth watering that I’m left with a cold feeling by seeing another top prospect leave. Too many. I get too attached to the players lol.

I can’t throw Burkey under the bus. I’ve read his online blog about how to train women and it is the most thought provoking read. I think the club hung him out to dry by making him the only full time professional during his stint but I’m all for progress and we’re making giant strides now.

I’ve only moved to Melbourne this year and I went to every local game except the Collingwood game which was a massive mistake. I’m so interested in finding community of similar interests so expect a message next season to meet up at the Whitten & talk footy.

Just the year. Her partner was playing VFL for Footscray and he has signed with the Devils. Her sister is a stalwart of the Glenorchy footy club. I think it’s a guarantee she goes back to Hobart.

Also that’s great to hear that she might just be an outlier but after Kate McCarthy criticised the clubs intentions when dealing with contracts I’ve become sceptical that the club doesn’t work hard enough to retain players. I’m probably catastrophising. Gabby Newton feels damning to have wanted out.

Who knows with the double hyphen. Maybe she thought as a high profile pick she’d get a bigger role or even a different role? I remember Gemma Bastoni saying in her draft year she had experience through the midfield & on the wing. We seemed to pigeon hole her into a key fwd and not much else.

Please, I’d love a draft bolter to turn into a 12 ye player. Matthew, I can’t believe I’ve found a fellow Dogs fan on bsky! Sheepish to admit I don’t follow the boys at all & Tassie’s inclusion will get me back into men’s footy but I am a complete and utter Dogs girls obsessive. Do you get 2 games?

Like how Smith continues to smash the 2km time trial that would probably give you a chance. I just feel like the teams profile is getting a bit closer to peak footy age and we might not have a lot of time for the smaller types just like Barwick for example.
December 15, 2025 at 12:00 PM
We’ve def played these types before. Snell sticks out as a recent example of tenacious and capable of repeat sprints but the wing areas in AFLW are barren wastelands where you don’t get a lot of support and the Dogs loathe to move the ball anyway but very direct so being an endurance specialist….

One that comes to mind is Tom Doedee who was taken at pick 17 and everybody thought it was bizarre. I hope we and Mizuki can be patient because there’s not necessarily a starting role available next season and we seem to have kids wanting out if they can’t play and that’s tough on everybody.

I enjoyed Train Dreams & Two Prosecutors a lot. Depending on how somebody feels about slow burn bureaucratic foreign language dramas, I would recommend them both. Sentimental Value opens on Xmas day here in Melbourne which is a nice present.
