The schematic isn’t accurate, in reality the kidney is positioned just central to the spinal cord, which isn’t too dissimilar to embryonic stages (ie the embryonic pronephros is positioned between gut and the notochord)

If you’re asking why the duct region in the pronephros “migrates” anteriorly then it is due to loss of tubule fate in the anterior segments of the pronephros - likely due to loss of hnf1b activity. Essentially, the entire pronephros becomes a duct that mesonephric nephrons plumb in to

@mads100tist.bsky.social I’m not sure quite what you mean. But if you are asking about the position of the adult kidney in the fish then it pretty much stays in the same position (lateral to ~somite 3 all the way towards the cloaca).
