Still hate the games industry - love the games and the people making them, though

Hope it stays chill over here!

It doesn't take that much anime literacy to know RCD draws heavy inspiration from Showa mecha anime, but one thing that has surprised me is that character portraits aren't just cel drawn, but animated, too, which RAD lacks. Occasionally NPC animations will loop to cute effect, like Miyuki here. 😌

Typical con artist behavior: willing and able to say the truth out loud, because they assume they already won

Ultimately, this has been useful and helps me think of how a minigame can be built in games - especially the emulated games in most Like A Dragon games.

Thanks again for taking the time to explain how you do minigames - opened my eyes, for sure 😊

I've read this reply multiple times, and I can't visualize it in my head. It makes sense in words - since the player isn't moving, it makes sense to "save" the game then load another scene. I just think it's not as optimal as I assume other games do it

Now I don't know what a 'minigame' is now 😅

I've always been confused as to how mini games are implemented in games in general. Don't even have the right words to ask online.

How did you implement it? Is it just another executable? I'm also wondering about how those arcade games in the Yakuza games are implemented, as well

Zōni, annotated edition

(this soup is considered too dangerous to serve in restaurants, so you should try making it at home if you want to do something complicated on New Year's Day!)

This highlights how useless LLMs actually are when making larger projects, since it highlights humanity's obsession with not wanting to work

Even something as mundane as laundry requires active thought. If you delegate it so someone or something else, you'll never know when it's done poorly

Damn. Didn't know you worked on that. Don't know if you went back to the game industry or not - I tend to not look people up on principle. Wouldn't blame you if you left it for good - it's a nightmare in that industry now in ways that feel unique to all other entertainment industries

If you're looking for positive predictions, I don't have much. Maybe, I'll make a small game for myself and no one else.

We're on the cusp of at least one major game studio collapsing, but that's like saying sometimes the sky will be cloudy

How long did it take you to make each of those, and how long did it take to figure out what to draw and how to draw it in your style?

I'm assuming this is yours. Looks like fun

Still remember a viral video of a Black group in South Korea crushing a song they rapped in Korean and went, "Yeah, K-Pop is Black music, alright"

For those interested in setting it up on a Raspberry Pi, I really recommend this tutorial. The documentation on the GitHub is well-written and detailed, but a video walkthrough is helpful since the initial setup is fairly involved. There are tutorials for Docker, Ugreen NASs, etc elsewhere, too.
