what is with japanese -ira replacing -ra in the late 1700s in words like koko-ra>koko-ira, soko-ra>soko-ira, doko-ra>doko-ira? analogy to chi <ti> "place" (e.g. kochira "right here")?

Found out that Dai Ryukyu-go Jiten now has Ishigaki-Shika dialect from Ishigaki Hogen Jiten (石垣方言辞典).

I believe Yonaguni tsˀá "surface" is derived from proto-Ryukyuan *pira "slope": *piɾa > *pˢɨsa > *tˢɨ̥sa > tsˀa. A possible deriative is tsândá "crushed flat", probably from *pira+pira > *piɾaᵐbiɾa > *pˢɨsaᵐbᶻɨza > tˢɨ̥sa-ⁿ-dᶻɨ̥za > *tsandza > tsanda. [more in replies]

My hypothesis is that Shuri kóː-nú-ɕíɕí "deer; venison" is loaned from Japanese ka during the process of changing Sino-Japanese diphthongs <-au> to <-a>, and *ka got hypercorrected to *kau. Otherwise, Japanese shika was loaned into basically every Ryukyuan dialect.

Old Okinawan word for today. kuma "a village of ancient lineage". The word is cognate to Japanese kuma "river bend". The word likely persists in Yoron-Higashiku kùmá "rice divination", Ie-jima kʰùmǎː "gunwale", Irabu-Nakachi fuma "place; reliable person".

Dai Ryūkyū-go Jiten (大琉球語辞典) is an excellent resource for dictionaries of Ryukyuan dialects, including Amami-Yamatohama, Yoron-Higashiku, Ie-jima, Nakijin-Yonamine, Shuri, and Irabu-Nakachi. It can be found in the given link below.
