I really like this move I think. It keeps the "greatest hits" around the course while trimming some of the fat. I don't think the big straight added a whole lot to the racing. Should make the cautions/stage breaks much more bearable as well.

Yeah among other things. Freight rail companies own all of the train lines and passenger trains rent time on the track and always have to pull off for freight trains which consistently causes delays. It's also not very economical.

Chicago's metro system is good for getting around the city and to the surrounding suburbs but Intercity travel isn't really feasible by train so much.

The thing about bias is it is very hard to see your own. As an American who has mostly had to watch F1 via British media I think there does certainly seem to be a bias. However, it's no different than other countries' broadcasts except that British F1 coverage tends to be broadcast internationally.
