I ain't often right but I've never been wrong. Typically posting about active transportation and bike lanes, the Oilers, the Grateful Dead, bbq, or whatever random thing pops into my head.
Having the crossing at 117 Street certainly has some benefits. The angle of the crossing in this draft design being closer to 90° than what you'd see at 117 Street might have been a factor in the location as well.

A lot will depend on the right-turn design. If it's designed to keeps speeds down to around 15 km/h and is followed by a raised crossing that further reinforces that speed, it should work reasonably well.

The whole thing is nuts. I can't imagine the internal strength needed to not just walk in and say "fuck you, now fuck off," and then walk back out.
