I’ve never heard Travelin Soldier at all out in the country world - then again I’m from Ohio one of the reddest states around so that doesn’t surprise me. I do hear Cowboy Take Me Away occasionally though on rare occasions - That said I wouldn’t be suprised if this is the true backstory.

It’s not even peaked on country radio yet so it very much could happen if it actually crosses over to pop or gets a better push at Hot AC, even crossing over to pop too, it’s picked up some adds on Top 40 (hi Akron) without getting an actual push there.
