It seems evident that social media has successfully monetized antisocial behaviors far more than pro-social ones.

Either we find a way to make a market for more pro-social demand or we have to fundamentally bring it all down to the studs and start over.

Sure seems like the dude responsible for sending political fundraising texts fell asleep on the "send" button.

Getting a spam rate like never before.

Is Staples pretty much just a return processing subsidiary of Amazon now? At least during the holidays I bet this function is their biggest source of revenue.

Are there any examples of crypto bros doing real radical philanthropy or mega projects with all those hundos?

Some one has to be sitting on an early stash worth billions and is doing nothing memorable with it.

For the love of all that is holy why does Brother keep updating their iPrint app so often??? If I didn't think of it as a massive security risk I wouldn't think of it at all!

Every real estate agent ever... "This is one of the cleanest inspections I've ever seen"

Don't mind the water damage, the failing water heater, the dodgy electric issues...

Upgraded to Tahoe and... Woof.... This liquid glass stuff is garbage. I want to turn this completely off.

Can't help but think that it's no longer a question of "if" my son will experience an active shooter event in his educational career but perhaps how "many" times it will happen.

Children of Columbine survivors now experience their own traumas.

We can not accept this.

Things I'd actually like AI to do but can't seem to solve yet.

1. Find me the cheapest price on a grocery item from three different stores in my area (anti-scrapping tech)

2. Find someone I know who knows a person I'm trying to reach. (Closed social graphs)

How long until video production costs drop enough to make it reasonable to shoot multiple endings or multiple different protagonist personas (male, female) and offer the audience their preferred narrative?

For CG movies you could probably do this tomorrow.

You know something that never once happened to me when I worked at a Google Apps organization..

"Please decline this meeting because it is an Outlook error and we can't delete it" being sent out to 500 people.

Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

Imagine sitting there... you go have a light lunch.. send a few emails... come back and yup, those dudes are still clinging to that boat and haven't died yet...

Seemingly you could go arrest them, get additional intelligence.. Sounds like a lot of paperwork though. No loose ends they say..

Had a weird moment where my brain/muscle memory got cross wired and could no longer remember my personal PC user password. After several rounds of failed attempts I checked the internet and yup... there is an exploit that takes less than 2 minutes with ZERO technical knowledge required..

First of all, felons should not be disenfranchised at all, full stop, second of all, it is wild to have restoration of voting rights contingent on a governor's approval.
Virginia's tough rules for felons to regain their voting rights could soon be changing
Virginia is one of just a few states where only the governor can restore voting rights for people with felony convictions. But Virginia's rules may soon be changing.

It is hilarious that Coffitivity's "focus" soundscape of a lunchtime cafe still features an audio clip of someone casually mentioning "body slams ya" to another person. The whole thing is on a short loop and every time it pops up it is so jarring as to prevent any "focus" for me.

#TIL you have to pay an annual tax to use a television in the UK and hilariously you get a discount (but not free) license if you are legally blind.

New customer support tactic observed in the wild.. In this case the support agent seems as confused and bewildered as if I had asked a random person on the street for warranty service.

She is saying things in a surprised tone like
"Oh ok.. now I am going to ask you for your zip code"
