The constitution has successfully gamed by Republicans via exploitation of the Senate and stacking of the SCOTUS. Is replacing it practical? No, but let's not act like we live under a representative government.

They certainly could try, but openly attacking a service member acting in a reasonable manner would have consequences for the administration politically and would certainly be a violation of said member's constitutional rights.

Previously, generals have resigned / retired and been critical of the administration they did not want to serve. Would the Trump Administration likely make life as painful as possible? Of course, but there's no evidence the courts would go along with this.
