Ghouls already using this tragedy—our city’s 4th shooting in 24 hours—to stoke hate and violence against our trans loves. Please minimize your social media use for the rest of today . . . go outside, love on as many people as you can, and come to Lynnhurst for the 8 pm vigil if you’re able

NEW: In 40 cities across Australia, an estimated one million people have been on the streets calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza.

These were the scenes in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

Between a "No Other Land" crew mate filming himself being killed by a settler, to a journalist being killed by airstrikes he was covering minutes earlier, I'm not sure how much more televised Israel's genocide can be

Most people haven’t seen The Strange Thing About the Johnsons, but if they have it makes sense why Ari Aster is so bad at writing anything about race or creating characters of color with any depth

If you were curious about how Ryan Coogler and his team constructed that musical sequence in Sinners, here’s a clip of him explaining it.

Update!

Over 1750 people have signed up for the Resistance Summer School pilot course!

This is the seed to a new movement and parallel education structure.

It won't put participants in lifelong student debt. Or be subject to attacks on diversity.

Toni Morrison:
“No Place for Self-Pity, No Room for Fear: In times of dread, artists must never choose to remain silent.” by Toni Morrison; excerpt reads:

“Dictators and tyrants routinely begin their reigns and sustain their power with the deliberate and calculated destruction of art: the censorship and book-burning of unpoliced prose, the harassment and detention of painters, journalists, poets, playwrights, novelists, essayists. This is the first step of a despot whose instinctive acts of malevolence are not simply mindless or evil; they are also perceptive. Such despots know very well that their strategy of repression will allow the real tools of oppressive power to flourish. Their plan is simple:

1. Select a useful enemy—an “Other”—to convert rage into conflict, even war.

2. Limit or erase the imagination that art provides, as well as the critical thinking of scholars and journalists.

3. Distract with toys, dreams of loot, and themes of superior religion or defiant national pride that enshrine past hurts and humiliations.”

Please see Mickey 17 in a theater. For some reason Warner Bros is doing a terrible job at promoting this film. We need more political satire in all forms of art right now. Anti capitalist/colonialist sentiments while still maintaining some levity is how we just might get through the next four years.

The poorest families receive an average of $26,000 a year from the government whereas the top richest families get $36,000 a year from the government.
Collecting unpaid federal income taxes from the top 1% would bring in some $175 billion a year.

"No Other Land," the Palestinian-Israeli made film showing the destruction of the occupied West Bank's Masafer Yatta by Israeli soldiers, just won the Oscar for Best Documentary.

It can't get a distributor in the US.

Which tells you everything about censorship in the US.
