Not that this breaks top 5000 things wrong with health insurance but the fact that they got my name wrong on my insurance card and when I had the audacity to ask them to change it and give me a new one they sent me a much less substantial card does feel a little insulting

I would love a non-Christmas end of your celebration. But celebrating the winter solstice isn't catching on and The only thing people seem interested in doing on New Year's is out drinking their St Patrick's Day selves.
My no-fun-at-parties take is that "christmas is a secular holiday" is an uncomfortable way of assuring me that christianity is the status quo and everything outside of that is an aberration. Sorry! It's still a christian holiday!! Just because you're an atheist doesn't make it secular!

House went on fire yesterday morning. Thankfully all personnel present and accounted for - including pets. Unfortunately the smoke damage is extensive and we have no power, so I'll be AWOL a few days.
