I really like how Nihei's been going for economy of line in his TD artwork and how he remembered, after Aposimz, that black ink exists.

Pic tangentially related.

Oh man, it's been like what, 5 years? since the last time someone said this. Time sure flew by while in sealed-room simulator Namek.

(NO, TIME DID NOT FLY BY)

Elf in hybrid armor powered by 3 different methods--external frame + servos, muscle cables & direct magical enhancement of the wearer's limbs. Elven mental architecture offers an advantage in controlling the sub-arm.

Meanwhile, as Drel's forces hurriedly retreated from the capital, Naie of the magical flying oxcart managed to sleep through the whole thing.

Anyways, Clevatess was a fantastic show, even though everyone had a tendency to infodump monologue.

Hopefully there'd be a second season as the last scene teases.

In the end, Drel literally had a melty while realizing he had unrequited feelings for Alicia's dad.

Some doodles inspired by a Hadrosaur mecha convo in toughsf discord from a while back.

The entire scene is better off watched than described.

Also, Suguri's aware at this point that the girls came from the future.

The last bandit ambushes Suguri who's at disadvantage w/out her armor, which leaves Sayuri with a hard choice.
Btw, she's strong enough to haul around Suguri with just one arm.

The bandit's skull was likely caved in by the big rock. Impressive death gurgles from the VA as Suguri ends it.

This hits hardest with Sayuri, the most timid of the girls, who has a moral crisis upon learning of Suguri's plan to hunt down the remaining bandit, concluding their preemptive action (total bandit death).

TOTAL
BANDIT
DEATH

I feel that this is pretty much the point where the harsh realities of the time really soak in on an existential level with the girls.

Turkey!'s shaping up quite well, with the latest episode dealing with the girls' 21st century morality running head-first into the Sengoku era.

As usual, Mai with her terminal case of foot in mouth disease leading the charge upon hearing of Sumomo's arranged marriage.

Watching the latest episode of Clevatess, and I like how the wizards aren't skimping out on the armor.

Should be noted that 'magic' in this setting is a relatively new & novel thing.

Older-style AsGear, uses external frame + servos instead of muscle cables. Simpler & cheaper to build, with well-understood operating principles. However is bulkier, less efficient & redundant, more vulnerable to damage.

Should be easy to guess who she's based on.

"Shoot that guy."

Experimental AsGear in the form of a bodysuit with muscle cables integrated into the weave. Requires extensive custom-fitting as, unlike armor, the wearer's own body has to function as rigid support & anchor points for the musculature.

Just read the latest chapter of Tower Dungeon which concerns Aridellia's circumstances, and it has this fairy-tale quality to it leaning towards the darker Northern European sort.

The paneling also has a very storybook feeling, which adds to the tone.

Couple of designs for fantasy 'AsGear' powered armor utilizing advanced, 'ribbon-type' muscle cable with a much flatter profile. Left is a fully-integrated harness, right is a composite harness assembled (scavenged) from various sources by the local raubritter from podunksville.

Just finished reading Benford's Galactic Center series and, from Great Sky River onwards, it can't be overstated how foundational it was to Nihei's Blame!

As a Roman Catholic, I was hoping for Cardinal Tagle to become the new pope, but this is quite the ringing endorsement for Cardinal Prevost.

God bless the newly-elected Pope Leo XIV. May he continue to bring, like his predecessor, new life & positive relevance to Mother Church.
