Some of it is definitely just rose tinted glasses, I'll admit, but I miss the days where I could feel that raw "otaku" passion from creators, unapologetic and original. I guess it could be worse, I'd rather be remembered for Evangelion TV than Rebuild... Anyway here's Daicon IV.

Over the years I've caught myself thinking about powerhouses in the anime/manga field over the years, and how I just don't feel like we see anything nowadays like we used to, from Gainax to CLAMP to Rumiko Takahashi nothing feels like it has the same staying power anymore, or legacy.

There are a number of brandings that various companies used to market their "Adventure Games" such the "Sound Novels" that Chunsoft put out in the 90s, and a few agnostic terms like "Kinetic Novel". Visual Novel is just sorta the term that stuck in the English community and probably the most apt one

Hi, old otaku here. Generally speaking the "correct" term is "Adventure Game" in Japanese, A "light novel" tends to be a written body of work that doesn't rely too much on complicated kanji (it's a sort of nebulous term) and a "Visual Novel" is a term coined by Leaf for their adventure games.

What I'm more getting at is questioning the motivation for some of this, are you installing Arch to show off for some weird fake internet points or because you understand and agree with the design philosophy? It's a god damned OS, it's there to let me look at anime tiddies, not look at my specs.

Like, you do you, but no one should be impressed you installed Arch in 2025. It's never been hard and no longer tedious because it's entirely automated through the installer script. I'm not saying that in a bad way, I'm happy you don't have to deal with pacstrap anymore.

Throw Reject Miss needs to come back. With an airhorn when you get hit with it. The indicator above your head isn't enough. Except I don't trust ASW to make a new Blazblue not boring bullshit.

Or Steins;Gate, or 428 Shibuya Scramble, or The Silver Case, or Saya no Uta (if you can handle gore).
