AI consists of more than LLMs.

Artificial intelligence is not limited to LLMs.

Yeah, I guess it is ~1 hour from Penn to Union on MARC. At least they run a good amount of trains each day.

But still not great unless you’re lucky enough to be within walking distance on each end.

Maybe I’m crazy but the Baltimore-to-DC commute options (especially if you’re hybrid) seem pretty good?
November 25, 2025 at 9:50 PM
These are all either limited (Boston, Baltimore) or relatively tiny systems.
November 25, 2025 at 3:15 PM
Question — do you ride the bus in Tucson? Are you a regular bus commuter?
November 25, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Neither of those are genuine bus networks with real coverage and dependable frequencies. WMATA and MTA Baltimore buses aren’t free.

All things equal, people who actually use and need buses are much better off with a $2-3 base fare.

It’s not a citizen initiative though — it’s a constitutional amendment put on the ballot by the State Legislature.

My hunch is Google has stopped caring about transit. Their GTFS processing and transit route-finding has gotten a lot shittier. Apple Maps and Transit are way better at this point.

I’m seeing SB #125 trips in trips.txt. Transit app has it as well.

#206 operates with flag stops in Evanston, as in it’ll stop at any corner where it’s safe to do so. Stop data is a little whacky for this reason.

“North of Howard, Operators
are required to make
service stops when
requested by customers
at any intersection
where it is safe to do so.”

And that would be still be more legally-sound than the original Constitutional Convention.

Moscow Mitch is still deeply embarrassed by his going non-verbal at this press conference after getting “geeked” off a 20mg Delta-11 gummy
November 10, 2025 at 3:07 PM
A few circulators, one of which runs at 40m headways and all of which end service at 2000 on weekdays, is not a real, useful bus system.
November 8, 2025 at 1:34 PM
It’s deathly unpopular but Members of Congress really should be making $500,000+

The President $1,000,000.

The Chair of the Fed — $5-10M.

Seemed like the Dems were close to giving in earlier this week but now they’re back in the trenches🤞

100%. I think it’s imperative that CTA prioritizes operational excellence today and tomorrow, really starting with smoking on the trains.

Demonstrating that is the only way to build the momentum to fundamentally improve service through infrastructure.
November 7, 2025 at 1:55 PM
Like State/Lake is a CDOT project.
November 7, 2025 at 1:52 PM
No doubt. NITA’s governance reform can help in terms of service planning and customer info, but w.r.t. getting “Big Things” done (many of things pointed to in the article), it’s still a very fragmented world.

I agree with the point though: CTA must demonstrate operational excellence.
November 7, 2025 at 1:50 PM
Even with NITA, the CTA must still contend with Aldermanic fiefdoms, which present a much larger challenge to fundamentally improving bus service.

But with the current momentum, perhaps a newly appointed, permanent President can build up the political capital to get stop spacing or BRT.
