They're badass for how they withstood Germany's best shot. At one point during Stalingrad, the Germans had taken 80% of the city and pushed the Soviets to the brink. But thanks to Zhukov's brilliant strategy, they encircled the Sixth Army, cut off its supply lines, and then completely destroyed it.

Also, it's looking like the federal courts these days aren't fans of Section 230. Gonzalez v. Google should have been an open-and-shut case based on Section 230, but it somehow made it all the way to SCOTUS (which ruled in favor of Google on other grounds and didn't touch the Section 230 issue).

Section 230 is federal law, but states are becoming more and more emboldened to enact legislation that circumvents Section 230 and seeks to hold social media platforms liable for various content-related issues.

For me it's the opposite: I often become dispirited from day-to-day life in the Bay Area, but then traveling to other parts of the US makes me appreciate California more.
