Finally, we realized we had so much data that we decided to make things a little bit easier to digest by calling out one specific feature per section as the one feature you should learn (or at least remember) this year.

The best part is that you *also* get access to respondents' original, raw answer for any topic–and can even cross-filter those down further by an additional secondary topic if you want.

This in turn pushed us to rethink how charts could be made to show nested data, ending up with this file tree/bar chart hybrid.

Rust is the #7 most-used programming language (JS/TS excepted).
But despite that relatively low placement, it tops the rankings for languages that have the most features missing from JavaScript itself.

According to my Japanese dictionary, there is a dedicated verb (割く) that can mean “to have a tattoo in the corner of one's eye”.
I’m not sure how often that comes up outside of Kimetsu no Yaiba…

I've been thinking about migrating away from @vercel.com for a long time but this seals the deal.
@render.com already hosts quite a lot of the State of surveys infrastructure, I'm sure it'll handle the Next.js apps just fine.

But more likely to join smaller-scale communities such as:
- Discord
- conferences
- local meetups

if you compare white men (just because we do constitute a majority of developers in western countries) vs women/non-b respondents of color (i.e. minority groups), the delta in open-source participation gets even bigger…

This kind of vaguely passive-aggressive interaction happens all the time in open-source, and it's easy enough for me to ignore.
But I do wonder if a women or a person of color would maybe find it harder to move past something like this, just because their radar is more attuned to rejection.

Generally speaking, women and non-binary respondents are much more likely to have had to resort to action (including seeking therapy, switching careers, etc.) as a result of negative workplace experiences.
