Lurker extraordinaire. I could make that.
I know this word because it was plastered in warnings all over campus when I went to summer orientation before college. I guess they were concerned about new student shenanigans in the high rise dorms?

This sounds amazing!!

So what you’re saying is I should wait a couple more hours to take the trash out tonight…

I just got organizing baskets for my new-to-me chest freezer! I would love to organize my fridge better but the farm share keeps dropping 8lb kohlrabi and turnips, and huge heads of escarole on me that won’t fit in any drawers!

Ooh, I’ll take one for the Mister if there are any left.

Oh. Those are perfect for dragon hoarded books!

Windowsill, yeesh.

Here’s my selection of more sedate fat quarters. Light for pages, dark for spines. That wavy one is more of an olive than it looks, and the blue one in the second picture is not as vibrant in real life, tried to take the pics on the windsill but it’s a weirdly overcast pnw day.

How much is a small amount? I have some meh colored bits and bobs from a quilt. Like a parchment color base? I’ll pull some together and post a pic when I get home.

The book was pretty good - someone mentioned it in one of Shep’s threads a bit ago and i grabbed it from the library - Three Bags Full by Leonie Swann. I suspect the movie will be cornier. Waiting on the sequel now.

I’m so sorry, Ethan, they never stay with us as long as they should. Sounds like he’s had a long, happy, life with both of you, though. ❤️‍🩹

That's brilliant, and such a wonderful photo. If it hasn't come back already, I hope you get your power back soon.
December 17, 2025 at 7:21 PM
Oh yum. I’ll definitely try this with part of next year’s harvest.
December 14, 2025 at 7:22 AM
Wait. Do you just marinate them in the liquor, or sugar too? All the recipes I just googled call for sweet. I have a sour cherry tree. I’ve done bourbon cherries before… but these sound lovely.

Ah! The dressing mention! I was in college before I ever had bread stuffing at thanksgiving. It was always pork and potato stuffing cooked in the bird. Do you ever make gortons, too? Harder to find leaf lard now, but they’re so good.

My family’s is a pared down version too, no potatoes, only pork, a few spices. We love it, but we do use so much ketchup! Lol. Make it every new year with baked beans and mashed turnips and carrots.

The litter Genie is great for scoopers! Keeps the smell way down, you just have to look for a good deal on the bag refills because they are always way more expensive at the store, seems like.

Is queen of the night still available?

Corollary: all cake is breakfast cake.

Ooh. This makes me think… Now that you do turning… would you be interested in doing a darning mushroom and/or eggs?
December 4, 2025 at 4:57 AM
Oh, that does look yummy!
December 3, 2025 at 9:53 PM
And thank you for introducing me to another confection I'll need to check out.

Not sure how traditional it would be, but I make a non-yeasted stollen that is supposed to have raisins in it. Due to beloved raisin-dislikers I now make with chopped apricots and dried montmorency (sour) cherries and I think I like that way better now. Both would be good in tiffin, I think?
