And by “Portland” I mean the Portland of Lobster Roll fame, not the Crime-ridden, War-ravaged variety.

I am very Mikecentric when it comes to weather. I claim it all. (Good or bad).

We are in Portland at the moment, eventually heading down to Boston to fly out.

Since Kathy and I arrived in New England for vacation, temps are 15 degrees above average.

You’re welcome.

Who a President hires says as much about him as what he personally does:
This pictures talks about Lisa Frnchetti a 40 year career admiral who was fired by a drunken Secretary of War who was hired by a failed businessman turned president.

When Sanderson finished the series it did seem to move much faster

I would agree… though I did enjoy 10

I’ve read Wheel of Time all the way through twice now.

Why is it that after book 5 it feels like torture to keep going? And by book 8 it feels better again?

I just learned from a WoT board that this is a common experience.

Anyone have any insights into why book six and after has this effect?

We’re Bucket-Listing again. This time in New Hampshire for the turning of the leaves.

Love the big emphasis on Hallowe’en here in this neck of the woods (Jackson):

From the moment Stephen Miller was forced (by his father’s real estate failures) to leave his private white school and go to a desegregated SoCal high school, he made hate and revenge his two guiding principles.

As many have said, he is our Himmler. And just like Himmler, he is afraid of everyone.

I love this on every intended level.

Back in 2015, a woman in the church I taught at began to extol her support of Donald Trump. I honestly didn’t know he was running for office again.

I told her “Ignore him. He’s a buffoon. He would be the end of civilization as we know it.”

It was a joke.

UNIVERSE, IT WAS A JOKE.

Yes, that’s what Paul called it. And I loved that he called it that. Too many people call it Compassion Fatigue and I personally think Compassion means something very different than empathy.

"It’s widely assumed that there’s a tradeoff between quantity and quality—if you want to do better work, you have to do less of it—but this turns out to be false. In fact, when it comes to idea generation especially, quantity is the most predictable path to quality."

One reason I have hesitated to bring it up on Social media is I don't want my clients or others going to therapy to feel like they can't share about being overwhelmed.

Just like MDs in the pandemic didn't refuse to treat patients...but had moments of crash.

I had a moment.
I am working through it

Two of my close friends who work with AI have tested messages posted by alt-right, tradwife, “alpha male” and other OPs, and found that the vast majority are not just AI written, but bot managed.

Most of these people do not exist. Stop highlighting their regurgitated LLM nonsense.

I’m not interested in retiring. But I am going to take a week off and reflect. I possibly can take a sabbatical and have my colleagues cover some of my clients during this time. We’ll see.

Thank you.
Very solid advice.

you're correct...it is not appropriate to have my client hear out my issues

However, like you, I have clients who have remained friends after we are done the counseling process. I also have a few friends who are also clients who will listen to me outside the counseling session.
