I'm a Japanese university professor in natured-based solutions (NBS), green infrastructure, and ecological planning. I work for a small public university. I like watching movies and enjoy onsen (hot springs) and sea food (sushi and sashimi).
It was a beautiful full moon last night. The mid-autumn moon, they say, based on the old agricultural calendar in east Asia. There are many folklore stories with moon.

The author of Detective Conan is from Tottori, where I live. Tottori is famous for the largest sand dune in Japan, hot springs, and seafood.

We had the university commencement yesterday. Yes, Japan’s fiscal and academic year is very different from other countries. It runs from April to March. I supervised seven undergraduate students and a master student for two years. They all have written theses. I was happy to see them graduate.

Plums bloom about a month earlier than cherries. Plum blossoms let us know the change to the spring season, which is nearing.

Japan has lots of earthquakes because of her location of tectonic plates. But this brings good things such as hot springs. One of the best onsen (hot springs) inns in Tottori, Iwai-ya. Its baths use natural hot water, coming out from the ground. The oldest hot spring in the region. #hotsprings
