On 21 May 2025, SADTU will join hands with Blind SA, Recreate SA, SECTION27, & the SA Guild of Actors outside the Constitutional Court in support of the Copyright Amendment Bill (CAB). The signing of CAB into law has the power to advance the right to free, quality, inclusive & decolonised education.

Thousands of members of South Africa’s biggest educators trade union, SADTU held a protest march to the Departments of Treasury, Basic Education and Higher Education and Training to protest austerity measures that lead to budget cuts affecting the funding of public education. #GoPublicFundEducation

We need to ensure that education systems can continue to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and the free pursuit of knowledge, and that the teaching profession enjoys the trust of governments to teach with autonomy and exercise their professional judgment.
