UK can’t appease Trump & get closer ties to EU, the two are incompatible.
If he chooses Trump & much smaller trade with US over closer ties with EU, he’s on a hiding to nothing & the ‘deal’ will get worse for UK over time.
I hope it fails with US, so our best option is single market & customs union.
