Yep. Food stamps subsidize the largest companies in America. Think Walmart and Amazon type of companies. Without food stamps, they'd have to pay a true living wage.

For years, this situation has been called “corporate welfare” because corporations claimed realistic minimum wages would make their capitalism untenable. And they spent oodles to lobby for the handout. Its never been a wise way to allow low wages. Given the astronomical CEO pay, it has become dumber

ANOTHER CORRECTION: Trahern Crews is also not a journalist. He’s a social justice advocate and a community organizer and from what I can tell is (or was) on the Steering committee for the Minnesota Green Party. He also ran for a house seat in Minnesota (he lost). Also he co-founded BLM Minnesota.
