Yes, it took me this long to watch the movie.

The last act drags a little? But otherwise, yeah, the movie is celebrated for a reason. Really fun mix of crowd-pleasing action/comedy and contemplative philosophical shit. That good shit. That shit you like.

I need to update this thread more often.

Somehow almost forgot to add this. I mean, yeah, it's one of my favorite gaming experiences of all time. Obviously. The chances of me not liking this game were like .1% But still, I guess it bears saying: Really good. Would recommend.

Squid - Cowards:

Listening was pleasant enough, but nothing really jumped out to me as much as the previous two albums. I'll have to continue listening. Might be a grower, might just be my least favorite. Not bad though.

Squid - O Monolith

Probably my favorite of the three albums I listened to. No real duds, some real bangers, and doesn't Insist Upon Itself as much as some songs on the previous album. "Undergrowth" and "The Blades" have been on heavy rotation.

Squid - Bright Green Field

Sometimes you wanna listen to an album that makes you feel like you're going fucking insane. This album definitely scratches that itch. The last half of "Narrator" makes me smile.

One Piece - Jaya Arc

Short and sweet, with one of the most memorable fight scenes thus far. Lots of Yakuza energy emanating from this one. This series has good vibes, generally speaking.

Harley Quinn Season 1:

Fun. I didn't...LOVE it, but it was good. Interested to see how it evolves in future seasons, and I think the characters are pretty strong.

Hal Emmerich's favorite movie, imo. There were parts where it struggled to hold my attention, but, by and large, another Ghibli banger.

Was starting to think nothing would ever touch Grave of the Fireflies, but this makes a good argument. Really good animation, obviously, but it also has a really gripping narrative and a very likeable main character. Ending really makes you sit back and go "Damn." It's nice when movies can do that.

I listened to this a while ago, but I forgot to include it until just now. Despite having heard a decent amount of Roberta Flack's work before, I did not do a full album listen until her passing earlier this year. Obviously really good, with the title track being the highlight, but all are a vibe.

Decent movie. Hard to talk about it without spoiling, but it has an element which caused my eyebrows to raise off of my forehead, but it's handled...fine. Everything about this movie is just fine, except the visuals, which are always exceptional in Ghibli movies.

A book about the world's most annoying boy. Somehow, still a really good read. Probably because it effectively manages to spool out the relevant context for why he's such a prick. Interesting reading this in a year where I also watched a lot of Lynch. Similar feelings of lament over lost innocence.

The most memorable part of this movie was the Tom Holland jumpscare, in the dub. Other than that, pretty forgettable, honestly.

Dark Multiverse Yakuza 5. Definitely something you have to be in the right headspace for, since it goes to unsettling places, but incredibly engrossing once you get deep enough in. Really makes you feel for the main character. If only someone threw her into a TV. Would've fixed all this.

One Piece Alabasta Arc:

Yeah this shit's based. It's based. What do you want me to say? You want me to pretend its not based? I'm not gonna do that. I'm not gonna pretend it's not based.

Cute. Definitely the most kiddie Ghibli film, but that's fine every once in a while. Not my favorite, but cute.

This wasn't bad. I expected worse based on Goro Miyazaki's reputation. It's not the best Ghibli film at all, and it definitely feels overly reminiscent of their previous work, but IDK. It's not like EVERY prior Ghibli film was a banger. The Cat Returns was some bullshit. This is fine by comparison.

Much better, though shakier as an adaptation than the previous film. The book handled its themes of inevitability in a more interesting way, I feel. The lack of Paul's inner narrative, and changes to the structure of his arc lead to a different feel, even if still more accurate than Lynch's film.

Very good film technically, much better adaptation than the Lynch film, but this is a Part One-ass Part One. It doesn't end; it stops. Resultantly, I struggle viewing this as a singular film even moreso than with films like ATSV, Infinity War, or like, Deathly Hallows Part 1 or Mockingjay Part 1.

FINALLY finished this fucking book. Really incredible how modern this feels (in certain aspects) despite the fact it came out in the sixties. There's some aspects of its storytelling that are repetitive or don't age super well, but for the most part I was deeply engrossed.

The Rehearsal S1 + S2

Watching NFY, was partially about giving myself context for this. Really interesting to see how the finale of that show set the stage for this one, and the more complicated way this show goes about examining people's reactions to the Nathan Character. Liked it a lot.

It's taken me too long to see this movie, but I've seen it now. Um. It's good. Did you need me to tell you that Silence of the Lambs is good? If so, you've been told.

In my "watching classic noir films" era. This was pretty entertaining. I enjoyed the kooky soundtrack. And y'know...the reflections on human nature and stuff. Ending was really good, as well.

Excellent. Two or three songs I wasn't a huge fan of, but still not bad. Everything else, I liked a ton. I'm not interested in entertaining the notion that he's not one of the best rappers out rn. Feels like some people won't acknowledge that unless he makes To Pimp A Butterfly 2 or something.
