Saving for later.
Black men are setting themselves on fire in a Virginia prison...
“In a span of just two weeks, a dozen Black men at Red Onion prison in Virginia took the same desperate measures, setting themselves ablaze. These are not acts of protest. These are human beings driven to extreme lengths, hoping for relief from torment.”

Also, and this is something I’m not sure a lot of American “Catholic” Warhammer 40,000 LARPers understand, poorly educated fundamentalist Protestants (ie: the people you’d need to run an authoritarian theocracy in the U.S.,) do not actually consider Catholics Christian. Like, at all.
Authoritarianism is bad. I don’t like it. Just because Catholics are in it and around it does not make it good. It’s still bad.

I keep coming back to this: I’m tired of the hate toward minorities, women, the LGBTQ community and others who are vulnerable in our society. And I’m especially done with people using religion — I’m a Catholic — as a veil for their hate.

Love everyone. Help everyone. Not that difficult.
My “follow me on Bluesky” X post is going about how you’d expect 😂

That app is so exhausting 😂

3. Watching this crowd gloat over Laura Helmuth's departure from Scientific American, I'm struck by how Catholic theologian John Haught described fundamentalism: an inability to abide nuance and ambiguity; an inability to accept multiple answers, explanations, or layers of meaning.

I kind of want to edit a book called "Catholic Masculinities." It would give a bunch of very different but not-stupid examples of Catholic men (real historical ones) acting in ways far different than this bizarre online universe of Jordan Peterson, evolutionary science fantasies, and coercing women.

I had the privilege to be in the presence of the belongings of Dorothy Day. These will be relics when she is canonized a saint. Right now, she is a servant of God & God willing, she’ll become Venerable next year! Pray for her sainthood!
