To reverse population decline, St. Louis needs to attract families. That will require public-private partnerships and the construction of affordable housing.

The BoA does not have jurisdiction over this project. It exists under a Chapter 353 Redevelopment Plan that was approved in 2017, giving the Midtown Redevelopment Corp. (under SLU) authority over the area.

That said, we are working with the Mayor's office on a regulatory framework for data centers.

This is a complex and multifaceted issue. An outright ban is not the solution, just as allowing data center construction without any guardrails is not the solution. We need to have robust conversations around the topic and build consensus.

In the meantime, City departments have five months to work together and recommend regulations to the Planning Commission. Those regulations will be translated into legislation for the Board of Aldermen to discuss and pass into law.

Resolution 111 signals the Board of Aldermen's support for Executive Order 92 which requires any data center project to provide detailed information when going through the conditional use process—giving residents a chance to weigh in.

Directing the National Guard to help ICE hunt people isn’t just un-American, it’s inhumane, and it won’t make Missouri safer. It’s telling that our governor is prepared to waste taxpayer money so ICE can spend more time terrorizing Black and Brown communities.
