Senior Editor at Hagerty. Drummer. 24 Hours of Lemons Judge. Got an MBA, but kinda just want to be an artsy fool.
Why am I showing off my VHS collection of old @motorweek.bsky.social episodes?

Because I had the chance to interview John Davis, and learned some "behind the scenes" facts about the show. You could learn them too, ya know: www.hagerty.com/media/automo...

I was today years old when I learned the first car ever seen by a @motorweek.bsky.social camera was two-tone brown.

Not just one brown, but two shades of brown.

This is a magnificent day for me. And for you too!

You probably got a point there, you lovely small block Camaro racing in the 24 Hours of Lemons!

I thought I knew it all when it came to part numbers to restore pre-2000s Fords. Apparently not, because Dearborn in 1983 was all about that Cash Money, baby!

There's only one frunk that comes close to the Ford Lightning, and it ain't the Cybertruck.

Teaching Google Gemini about a long-forgotten tuner of the OG Ford Explorer has been...actually I got nothing out of it.

Hopefully someone else will!

Last week's 24 Hours of Lemons shenanigans got me wishin' this photo was actually taken in the late 1990s, when there was a ghost of a chance that Ford would campaign a Focus ZX3, Aerostar, and two Merkurs on a road course.

Anything is possible if your delusions pack the requisite grandeur!

Dammit Google, stop reminding me of my awesomeness.

When is a throwback more than just a throwback?

When I say so? Hopefully you also agree.

Editing my photos of the Countach LPI 800-4 for the next #vellumvenom and I am starting to wonder how much a kidney goes for on the black market. You know, asking for a friend.

Tuning the brightness of polarized film on a digital gauge cluster (that nobody is stupid enough to restore) is playing automotive restoration on hard mode.

Be it passive radiator speakers or pushrod V6s, sometimes you get a lot of punch in a little package. Sometimes.

Thanks to social media buzz about them, I took a serious look at two radically modern car designs. Perhaps the wrong minimalist wedge made production?
Vellum Venom: Citroën Karin vs. Tesla Cybertruck - Hagerty Media
In this installment of Vellum Venom, we compare the Citroën Karin and the Tesla Cybertruck, two examples of minimalist car design.

Had to dust off a classic because my stupid smartphone wasn't cuttin' it.

But before that, some motivation.

2011 wasn't a bad year, but there were way too many oversized implements of promotion. 1994, OTOH, was wicked cool. Backdating for the win.

I put a deposit down, so I had to write about it. Who else in the market bought a compact Ford Ranger when it was new, and is now taking a hard look at how @slateauto.bsky.social can replace it?

I am usually not an impulse buyer, especially for a vehicle. But @slateauto.bsky.social tugged at my heartstrings, and my dream of a practical and affordable EV truck that's Made in America is impossible to resist.

It may replace my Ford Ranger, so join me on that journey as it unfolds on Hagerty.

How I long for the day when floor mats are as brown as a paint-to-sample Porsche can be. (Should be.)

I mean if your world doesn’t turn upside down at 110 miles an hour, you’re clearly flying too close to the sun.

Me: Crud, I need a photo of an automotive Easter Egg for an article I am writing.

Car: Hey moron, forgot about me? Come to the garage and look in my eyes.

Me: That's kinda mean, but thank you!

It's easy to love the W123 as a vintage design from a famous automaker. But many elements of its design should come back into new MB products, they would be more unique and desirable in the market with them. (mostly the luxuriously horizontal grille!)

The more time I spend with the Lyriq, the more I love the thing. It could use more neck snapping acceleration and maybe a couple more buttons (like the glovebox) but it's making me love the luxury CUV genre. Even the boot up screen is 🔥

Lease one while they are still cheap, this won't last forever!

This morning I wondered if anyone has ever considered playing Grand Theft Auto but only using public transport.

Turns out someone has:

So...if you had the opportunity to interview Virgil Exner Jr., a successful car designer with a very famous father, what would you want to ask him?

(Yes, I am openly asking for outside opinions. This might make the interview better for everyone who reads Hagerty.)
