What does privilege have to do with AI art and piracy against small artists. This is a discussion on those topics and if you say your point is not about artists what is the reason to mention it?

You can defend piracy against big companies that is reasonable especially in today’s climate but to pirate from small artists and say it’s a victimless crime is factually wrong.

When someone pirates a piece of media they do not ‘usually pay the artists through donations’ they pirate the material for their own gain because they don’t want to use their money.

While true male privilege and inherited wealth is irrelevant to the conversation. If all artists were wealthy from birth and given said wealth from their families they wouldn’t make art for a living. Male privilege exists in almost every space yet the topic is AI art and piracy.

We are all people trying to get by and claiming that we are capitalists because we need money to survive in our society is unfair

When you pirate something and take away the money that would have been generated for that person and claim it’s a victimless crime you are wrong. The capitalist argument is irrelevant to the conversation because none of us are the causation of capitalism nor actual capitalists.

We live in a capitalist society, that sucks, that’s bad, I wish we didn’t. We live in a capitalistic society, people need money to support their families, buy food and water, shelter, energy, etc.

If an AI manages to become aware and capable of making decisions/original Ideas without the human assistance/Interference I’d be willing to concede what they make as ‘art’.

I don’t wish to ruin a friendship or to make you look bad or any of the sort but you genuinely upset us with how dismissive and disrespectful you acted towards artists.
June 1, 2025 at 2:05 PM
I don’t hate you, I still want to respect you and be your friend but this has been utterly unproductive and borderline insane to even contend with.
June 1, 2025 at 2:05 PM
You dog piled your friend while dodging their answers and rebuttals, you blatantly ignored every example we gave including the official definition of art, and after all is said and done I can’t tell if you unintentionally or maliciously ignored us with how often you did so.
June 1, 2025 at 2:04 PM
Even ignoring all of this the most by far disturbing thing about the entire conversation was the lack of one.

the results in any way they so wish. If you want to say your values lean towards a centralist position and share both right and left ideals that’s fine, but you are spewing right leaning ideas on AI ethics and labeling those who disagree as capitalist which is just factually wrong.
June 1, 2025 at 2:04 PM
The argument as well that artists not wanting their art to be used and valued to be their own is capitalist is inherently capitalist. You want free art using the labor of real artists to create something you want without giving anything to said artists and believing others can use
June 1, 2025 at 2:04 PM
you have no character because you defend AI over small artists, and you have no talent because you rely on artificial intelligence to create a half assed imitation of your friends talented pieces of work.
June 1, 2025 at 2:03 PM
and having the gull to call it your own after taking a shit over it. You have no distinct style because AI has none,
June 1, 2025 at 2:03 PM
To even imply as well that the usage of other people’s are for an AI art engine is not theft but piracy is beyond idiotic and pains me to even acknowledge the argument. Piracy is still theft, you are knowingly taking someone else’s property for your own benefit
June 1, 2025 at 2:03 PM
me I can make the distinction that while my words are a form of art, putting them into a metaphorical meat grinder and forcing random people’s inspirations, ideas, and creations through it and labeling the crude mixture of what comes out is not my own work nor a form of art
June 1, 2025 at 2:02 PM
There is no human aspect to AI’s as well, managing to write a sentence into a search engine is not revolutionary or hard to do, so to say you are creating a piece of art is an absurd statement. I am a writer, and while I can’t draw for the life of.

unethical, and against the very definition of art.
June 1, 2025 at 2:01 PM
But writing a prompt and/or a sentence, letting the AI chop up and Frankenstein together other artists works without permission and ignoring clear instructions on not wanting for their pieces to be used in AI art engines, and presenting the final product as your own is dangerous
