Commemorating VJ Day
Salisbury’s Jim Smith joined the RAF in 1941, was captured in 1942, and spent 3½ years as a Japanese POW in brutal conditions. His son, Ken, volunteers at The Salisbury Museum, where Jim’s artefacts are displayed.
We honour all who sacrificed for our tomorrow.

Based on a sculpture of Elizabeth Frink’s childhood pet, this art workshop, led by artist Sue Martin, will introduce you to low relief using card and paint to create your own dog!

We recently welcomed to the museum Nick Abbott, descendent of Salisbury photographer Henry Brooks. Nick lives in New Zealand and came to see Henry’s microscope for the first time in 60 years. Whilst here, he also saw the painting ‘Mrs Ridout and the Coombe Express’ by Frank Brooks, son of Henry.

Despite the louring skies on Saturday, The Salisbury Museum's Members' Garden Party was a huge success at the stunning Walton Canonry, former home of Rex Whistler. Guests enjoyed prosecco, afternoon tea, traditional games and punting overlooking the water meadows.

Today we were proud to welcome a rather soggy Richard Burt with Dilly the guide dog to Salisbury Museum. Richard is visually impaired and has walked all the way from Brighton to Salisbury with Dilly to raise funds for Wiltshire Sight.
