Probably the definitive history of the last century of Palestine, this is a more in depth look at it than anything else on the list. To truly understand the horror of what’s going on, this text is absolutely imperative

Darwish is one of the most celebrated poets from Palestine, and for good reason. This collection is beautiful, heartbreaking, and raw.

Not strictly about Palestine, The Message is Coate’s attempt to tackle the destructive myths that shape our world, looking at Senegal, South Carolina, and Palestine. Lyrical and thoughtful, really powerful

Chronicles the conflicts of Israel-Palestine from 1882 all the way until October 7th. A very accessible historical account of the reality of the last 140 years, showing how truly one sided the conflict is

Thralls Pulitzer Prize winning account of a schoolbus crash on the outskirts of Jerusalem, and the reality of the Palestinians trying to avail of basic dignity in tragedy. One of the most incredible things I’ve ever read

Another memoir of Shehadeh, this chronicles the experience of learning about his father’s life, years after his murder. Learning the ways in which his father defended the Palestinian state and kept hidden

Shehadeh’s diaries from the 2002 occupation of Ramallah by Israel. An honest and intimate account of what life is like in the day to day fear of having the IOF holding complete power over your life

Traverso examines popular talking points that arise when discussing the Palestinian question. He looks back at history and contextualises the arguments of Zionism and shows how the propaganda surrounding Israel cleverly covers the truth of genocide and occupation

Divided into two parts, the first is a speech Hammad gave, a mere week before October 7th. The second is an essay in response to her own speech. The 22 page essay is perhaps the most powerful piece of writing I’ve ever read. @vintagebooks.bsky.social

This first book I read, this was published as a response to October 7th to try and explain why it lead to the following year of genocide. Accessible and great as an introduction, this is definitely my recommendation for people to start learning
