We never opened the packages, but I'm confident since they came from REI, they contained what we ordered. Had we opened and kept the materials, not would be REI out of their money.

Sadly, my guess is many folks open their packages, keep items. That rewards the fraudsters at companies expenses.

We will never trust the EBAY platform again.

We are returning the "stolen" items to REI.

I'm posting this to warn others, buyer beware.

Even when a vendor has a positive rating, we no longer have confidence in EBAY.

Once again, we contacted EBAY to report the fraud and to stop payment.

EBAY finally agreed to a "one time courtesy" refund, and going forward we must get a refund from the vendors.

Ton our knowledge, even though we sent images and emails from REI to EBAY, they will take no action against vendors.

2nd package comes, allegedly from a different vendor. Same mis addressed package. Its now pretty obviously a fraud.

We called Ebay to report the fraud.
They told us to contact the fraudulent dealers, both of which we did. We got similar nonsense 'sometimes we make mistakes'. . .

Our support team advised that this may be case triangulation fraud where an order was placed with ebay for these items and the ebay seller arranges for the items to ship to you from a third party using unauthorized credit cards.

Please report this to Ebay and see what guidance or resolution they.

I'm not about to open a package not addressed to us. So I called REI.

Got this email from them:

"Thanks for reaching out REI today about order A393001334 which was delivered to your home but addressed to Angela Bartels."
