@quicheindustries

If you think making a webview respect vertical safe area insets is bad, sidebars are another level. 3.0 had a rewrite of the safe area inset logic which took until now to get stable, so I just had the button float for a bit.

A future release (next hopefully) will finally […]

> resizing sidebars doesn’t work great on a touchscreen

This aged well. Thanks Apple. 🤦

I’m aiming for some of these concepts to reappear in the redesign, but it’ll be ‘in addition to’ the current mode of operation with the full-width sidebar.

Oh yeah, and unsaved tabs look like app clips now.

Yes, I’m taking a common UI pattern and giving it a highly obscure metaphor. This is why I’m not a designer. But it looks so goood, doesn’t it? 😄

I’m about halfway done with this new design. The other half with be polish, and fixing everything that broke!

I think the bottom navigation on iPhone, and narrower sidebar, were both particularly sorely needed.

Once this core UX is done, I plan to get back to incrementally adding more browser […]

Here’s a sneak peek of Shimmer Browser v3!

Shimmer Browser’s current design stems from when it was just a set of icons and a SafariVC. It’s now a full browser with its own UX, while staying true to its goal of being a focus browser.

I’ve also made a few […]

The release notes are running little long, but in short:

* Import & export your saved tabs to a file. (Supports bookmarks import from Safari)

Split View is back! 🥳

And it’s fully integrated into windowing, which presumably means it works on external displays too. Coupled with long-running background tasks, iPadOS is looking stronger than ever.

I just hope we’ll see more apps…

There’s never been a better time to pivot to game development!

This is exactly the sort of thing I hoped would come to Swift Playground one day. @Migueldeicaza is the new Apple.

New conspiracy theory: the iPhone Air is a prototype for an even thinner iPhone.

They had to make it before they could ship an even thinner iPhone.

Hey, it makes more sense than it being a ‘necessary step’ to a foldable that misses the one crucial point that makes something ‘foldable’. Show me […]
