I don't normally do this, but I've been burning the candle at both ends.

Other half had a major op earlier this year and now I'm in hospital for an investigation.

Regardless of what's wrong, I need rest, but I've had little work this year.

Tonight’s spooky watch was Weapons (2025)!

To stay vague and avoid spoilers because it’s so freshly released, I’ll say that I wish I went in without preconceived notions on what I thought the movie would be like based on its poster/ads.

Recipe #2 is Viennese Fingers!

Despite knowing that the dough felt a little too loose, I put my faith into Mary Berry and ended up with some flat fingers. They tasted DELICIOUS however once the chocolate set!

Rating: 3/5 stars

Flat Viennese Fingers but you can still see loose ridge definitions in the cookies and each end of the finger was recently dipped in chocolate, which is in the process of setting.

Tonight’s spooky movie watch was From Dusk Till Dawn.

My love of vampire movies was REALLY warring with Quentin Tarantino trying to ruin this for me.

After sleeping on it, I think I can appreciate the movie but also acknowledge that it’s not a new favorite.

The use of lighting, sound, and set design to create a disorienting atmosphere was cool and while I originally didn’t love the acting, I think the awkwardness added to the fever dream vibe.

This month I’m tackling spooky movies on my to-watch list and started with Suspiria (1977).

What a technicolor fever dream. I’m not sure I liked it?? But I also didn’t not like it??

The 1st recipe in this book feels timely w/the last Bake Off episode—it’s flapjacks!

I’m more familiar with the North American flapjack (aka pancakes) so I channeled my inner granola bar maker to make the UK version.

Rating: 2/5 stars. So bland!! I see why contestants added such flavorful toppings

Autumn makes the baking gremlins in my brain gain strength, so I’m going to bake my way through one of Mary Berry’s books to see if I want to keep or declutter it 🍰

This bread baked so beautifully!! Cannot wait for it to cool so I can try a slice; my house smells INCREDIBLE

A stunning, round loaf of roasted garlic and gochujang bread topped with sesame seeds. The gochujang gives it an almost orange color. So beautiful.

Experimenting with this week’s loaf of bread by adding in some gochujang and dried roasted garlic 👀

I added in extra yeast to combat the garlic’s inhibitive properties, so fingers crossed it will work!

It is on constant rotation for me in the warmer months! I recommend playing around with the types of vinegar and herbs you use in it as well—super versatile!

I never have the proper motivation to make proper pickles so I appreciate any shortcuts I can find 😅

It’s a quick pickle vs a true pickling process and can be eaten as soon as 15min after prep but I think it gets better the longer the flavors can mingle. No heat required but because it’s not a true pickling, it’s only good for 3-5 days after making (not that it ever lasts that long!).
