I've just played my first game of solo Scrabble. I scored 477 which isn't great but for the first time playing in years I'm not unhappy with it. I managed to get all the tiles out. No 7 letter words though.

I mean, if you're going to teach in a school that has a transition year, you're going to need to expect there to be a gender stuff going on...

That being said, I'm glad he's off the streets (again) and hope his equally terrible family join him.
I hope the trans child he terrorised is okay.

The Long Sleep
My first novel. Originally, I wrote this as short story. Actually, most of the first draft was written while sitting on the beach at Arramanche in Normandy, one of the D-Day landing beaches. When my (then girlfriend, later wife, now ex-wife but still best friend) and I /1

Down Among the Yla
My first fantasy novel. Some of the ideas from this came out of research I did for Body and Soul, one of the short stories in Stories From The Corner of the Room.
A race of beings, called the Yla, live in the arctic north. However, they live underground in an enormous cavern, /1

Stories From The Corner of the Room
This was my first short story collection and consists of work I wrote pre-transition.
A lot of them are music inspired, including the one that starts the book: 'I Wish I Could Be Like...'. It's the story of a misanthropic young man who gets dumped by his /1

I think I was the only person who submitted a story. They were so taken with the story that they asked if they could illustrate it so we could put it out as a book. Obviously I said yes. And this is the result.
It's the story of a Princess that nobody believes when she tells them who she is. /3

They drew a picture (which I have hanging on my wall) of an astronaut meeting a space creature. And I wanted to know the story behind this meeting. So I wrote it.

This though is a full-on collaboration between Piper and me. They were trying to set up an anthology of trans children's stories and /2

The Princess and The Elephant (Illustrated by @piperstrangeart.bsky.social )
I absolutely love this book and that's because I love Piper's artwork. This isn't the first time that I have done something with them. Although the first time wasn't actually 'with them' so much as 'inspired by them'. /1

Ghostkin
In many ways this is my 'big one'. It's the only book I've written that actually got accepted for publication by a publisher - a small Canadian press called Double Dragon books. Unfortunately, they went out of business during the pandemic so I'm back to self-publishing again.

Tea, Comics and Gender
This is the memoir of my transition. It was intended to be an 8000 word essay appearing in All The Books of Earth but it kind of got out of hand and became a nearly 110,000 word book instead.
It uses a lot of text from the journal I kept at the time of my transition and /1

All The Books of Earth
This is a collection of short stories, essays (and one poem) written after my transition. They include 'Marooned Off Ceres' - an astronaut is stranded on Ceres after her spacecraft suffers an accident. The story details how she gets home and what happens afterwards. 1/

I've had a bird feeder on my window for a few months now but only seen a few birds using it. This is the first time one has stayed and eaten long enough for me to take a photo. It makes me really happy.

Can I recommend the Rolling Stone: Best Songs of All Time? I've not had to skip many, just the hard Gangsta rap stuff that I really can't get a handle on.
