The coolest thing about game dev so far is just how much I learn. It feels like everyday I pick up something new or get to see something in a new light. I love it.

I've been slacking on the tok front 😅. But this one would be pretty big-time spoilers, so if I do, I'll have to be careful! Lol

Downside is I'm now probably gonna be up till 2 am getting this on paper lol.

Have been banging my head against a game writing problem for 3 full days, and finally cracked through today. Top 10 feeling.

Accordingly to their press release, the conference previously known as GDC is going to drop prices significantly this year and drop the summits and core concept. That seems like significantly bigger news than the rebrand.

Things have been slow on our marketing front, but I think this next trailer is really something fun, can't wait to show it to y'all.

It is NEVER your responsibility to tell people to give up on their dreams.

Alright, takeaway number 1: I like, I wish, what if, is a brilliant framework for giving feedback and I like it much more than the compliment sandwich strategy, as I think it's a more straightforward yet respectful process of going about things.

Going to start re-reading: A Playful Production Process, my favorite book about game design. I'll maybe start posting some of my key takeaways in a thread here, mostly just to keep myself accountable. Or maybe I won't, who knows.

I'm curious to know what other not-as-successful games have had this impact. Another game that comes to mind is Avowed for its impeccable smaller open-world level design, but time will be the judge there.

For example, Wayfinder was not a commercial success (mostly due to design reasons). Still, I have found it is almost a ubiquitous inspiration among stylized 3d artists, and I think it will shape game art for decades to come. Seriously, I see it talked about everywhere in that niche.

It's very interesting to me that games that struggled to gain significant traction commercially will still sometimes have a large impact on the medium and the Dev's that make games. 1/X

The cruel reality of life is that one day 20 years from now you will wake up and remember more of what you didn't do rather than what you did.

Convinced people only put desert levels in their games because they feel obligated to.

Nothing happened, I've just been listening to a lot of Carl Thomas.

Gonna get a baggy sweater and stare out a high-rise window like I just got cheated on in an early 2000s R&B video.

When I started this project, I had dared to dream that this *might* be a possibility. But's still completely surreal to see it come to fruition. Thanks y'all. Hopefully this is just the beginning. Though, the beginning of what, I'm still not sure.

And otherwise created! No AI in this game whatsoever!

Heard that there was some concern that our game, the BFAA would utilize AI. I am proud to say that is 100% NOT the case. This game is being created by real people with real passion. Our 100+ characters will be voiced and written by living, breathing, people. #supportindies

I would like to caveat this as it has long since been more people's game than just mine. OUR GAME.
