I'm increasingly of the opinion that the LG should've been picked in Grand Committee (both chambers of the General Assembly meeting together) like the other statewide officer vacancies. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/01/08/m...

We undermine the relative progressiveness of our *income* tax system by heavily burdening our state's poorest with sales and property taxes (RIPEC knows this): itep.org/whopays/rhod...

This must’ve been like what living in the British Empire was like; “tonight at 6: what country are we invading today? The answer may surprise you.”

Man, I want to know what the list was for this? Was it “likely parents of girls”; “parents of children born before X date”; or “residents/homeowners of [my ZIP code]”

(This is an all-girls private school, and my 15 month old is a boy.)

This arrived at 5:34, both me and my wife received it, it was our first inkling that anything was going on. But no communication since.

It's wild to me that the effect on on-street parking is considered standing for abutters to sue.

I love the “lookup Dog” feature on Apple photos. So clarifying.

Oh dear, well, fortunately Rhode Island didn’t play itself.

Tax cuts for the elderly and federal subsidies for the Superman Building, that's the "affordability" agenda. 🙄

Huh. They really believe this.

The dynamic for the last 15 years has been that Republicans are unable to pass more conservative legislation because the far-right thinks it never goes far enough and thus the GOP leadership has to negotiate with Democrats to pass any legislation at all.

I’m interested in this show, but I’m not sure that’s really the right summation of Walter White and Tony Soprano. reactormag.com/nick-tarabay...

CCA’s entire slate (which is made up of Ds, Rs, and Is) finished last in the 2024 General Election. They’ve effectively managed to use a low turnout special to replace the most popular candidate with the least popular candidate.

Unfortunately in Charlestown, it looks like the conservative pseudo-party the Charlestown Citizens Alliance (CCA) has flipped a Republican seat after the incumbent died. The CCA candidate now holds the balance of power on the Council.

The City of Brown Station is just a real headscratcher. Congratulations to the Blood Center for incorporating, though?

So fascinated by the alternate reality MapQuest is displaying; including the "City of Friar Station" at Providence College.

Am I missing the point on point 3? It feels like a big part of the problem is that there's so much parking that car dependence in RI is super convenient. parkingreform.org/parking-lot-...
