I’d call them Sam’s Jay because I adore them. Sure, they’re obnoxious a-holes but damn they’re fine-looking birds. Had them a lot at our house in Seattle. Now we’re in the forest across the Sound and the woodpecker game is strong here, including regular Pileated and Northern Flicker visits.

I spent the morning in urgent care getting diagnosed with pneumonia. I’ll take that over appendicitis.
