These two pictures just popped up as a memory. 2023 and riding through the Badlands in South Dakota. 10' away was the closest I'd been to these fascinating beasts.

These two pictures just popped up as a memory. 2023 and riding through the Badlands in South Dakota. 10' away was the closest I'd been to these fascinating beasts.

What was Africa like to ride from Alexandria in Egypt down to Cape Town in 1992?
'Into Africa' is full of the drama, the surprises, the risky bits (there were a 'few') & the laughter. Africa is a continent full of incredible riding & fun.

One of the things I loved about riding through Africa was seeing how the kids made their own, quite brilliant toys, out of scrap. The front wheels on these, for example, were steered!

1996 This is my partner Birgit on the road from the Caprivi Strip in Namibia to the Okavango Delta in Botswana. She's on a 1972 BMW R60/5. Just minutes before we'd been engines just ticking while waiting to see what a herd of elephants on the road would do.

Back country tracks? So often they are rides of the unexpected aren't they. Leastways, GPS off, good amount of fuel, food and water, and see where they take you. 👍👍
