So I'm watching Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (1995) and It's pretty good so far, but I do have one serious complaint.

There's 5 main character Gundam pilots and NOT A SINGLE ONE of them is a girl. Come on, seriously 😭

Look, I get it was the 90s, but can't we get at least one?

Its time for another Sammie Review! 'Mobile Suit Gundam F91' For being 34 years old, this film's animation and visual design is CRISP as hell.....at least in the scenes focusing on the battles and the mobile suits in general. The rest of the film at least visually....frankly is kinda dogwater. You can REALLY see where the budget for the film went but honestly it's worth it because the battles are second to none un scale and do an incredibly good job of showing the chaos and destruction that happens to everything around a bunch of mechs going all out. Even though the animation is stunning, most of the fights make the suits feel like paper mache and a lot of the fights just don't feel as satisfying or weighty as everything exploding around them does. The sound design also carries this movie really hard too, particularly in the battles and any time any kind of machinery is moving on screen. It's really damn good. One thing that stands out enough to literally make me laugh out loud during the serious scenes is that half of the musical score is ripped straight out of star wars LOL. Literally "you can copy my homework but change it just enough so we don't get sued" Now for the story... It feels like a 25 episode anime crammed into an hour and a half. The number of times I had to rewind just to figure out what the actual fuck was happening was kinda silly. The transitions between scenes are abrupt to the point that its not just jarring, it's headspinning. If you don't blink or breathe you can follow what's going on well enough, but there's way too many times that you'll see the main character zipping around in a Gundam inside a colony, only 5 seconds later to see him running around another city on foot or fighting something else in space. It's WAY too fast paced, and thats a shame because what's there is actually pretty cool. Hm let's try giving it some arbitrary ratings! Story: 6/10 Animation: 8/10 Sound: 8/10 Music: 4/10 Characters: 4/10 Overall: 6/10
