Nothing like the smells of all the high desert plants around my hometown of Grand Junction, CO.
One of my favorites is the Yucca plant, typically the narrowleaf yucca (Yucca angustissima). The flowers and fruits can be used for food, the roots for medicinal soap, fibers for baskets. ❤️🌵

The name “Denali,” meaning “The High One” in the native language, reflects the deep cultural and spiritual connection Alaska Native peoples have with the tallest peak in North America. Renaming it from “Mount McKinley” back to Denali in 2015 wasn’t just a symbolic gesture.
