That + being able to resize the text so a given "page" can be shorter than actual print really motivates me to read more. I've spent my time reading lots of indie novels that never got print editions too. There's a lot that makes me very happy about it.

You genuinely might like an e-reader! I have an old Kindle and one of my favourite features is it can calculate how much time you have left in a chapter based on your reading speed, as well as showing you an overall percentage for how far into the book you are.

This fully got me to buy the game FWIW

I was rewatching that Game Awards 2014 video where he was watching Aonuma play that grainy alpha build on a tiny LCD at an angle, and even there he's like "ah... and these trees grow apples don't they". The man is a true gamer.

Yeah, this is pretty much exactly what happens when an increasingly shrinking games media has another round of layoffs and forces out long-term staff with institutional knowledge over an endless churn of college grads who can afford to work a low wage every couple of years. Not great all round!

I had an inkling and knew I was likely to find out ahead of time *somehow*, it was just a very very funny way to have those suspicions confirmed. Almost exactly like finding out about the major twist in Tears ahead of time through "would you love me as a worm" posting.

I got spoiled when I was watching my housemate do some postgame stuff and said off-hand "oh haha those blocks look like [CHARACTER], that's a fun little call-back" and in response they went "ahhhahah, sorry...!". If they'd held their nerve it wouldn't have even registered to me as a spoiler lmaoooo

Ultimately, it's been such a long wait (and I'm so eager to form my own opinion before discourse inevitably boils over again) that I think it would've taken a lot worse for me to not want to be there Day 1...? But I am still pretty anxious about it if I'm totally honest! We'll really have to see.

From what I understand, the original mobile games were very dress-up first, but for this one the studio literally hired one of the BOTW directors and expanded everything. There's a LOT of characters to talk to and sometimes it can feel a bit samey but the production value is staggering.

It's a fairly big open world (with a loose story) where you go around collecting materials that you can use to build outfits. Sometimes there's a skill-check in the form of a fashion challenge, sometimes there are little platforming challenges or other minigames. Style Savvy meets FFXV, essentially.
