Ymmärtämisvaikeuksilla on todennäköisesti myös poliittista merkitystä. Se että esim. Trump puhuu jonkinlaista tajunnanvirtaa mutta hyvin tutuilla sanoilla, tuottaa monille paremman ymmärryskokemuksen kuin poliitikko, joka puhuu asiallisesti ja täsmällisin käsittein, jotka on tuttuja vain osalle.
