What a great meeting to end the week with the @anzuptrials.bsky.social Masterclass. The ANZUP community came together to brainstorm better ways to improve the outcomes of people suffering #prostatecancer and #bladdercancer. I hope my thoughts on #clinicaltrial simplification were helpful
Registrational clinical trials cost up to $4000USD per patient visit. The number of patients visits might be a function of the number of Sites x Participants x Data Points. How can we innovate to get great trials, without this massive cost? https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7295430/ Innovations include formal Consortium collaboration and data federation models to create a true network, not perpetuating the hub-and-spoke model, transforming coordination to tele-coordination, using great educational resources like A-CTEC, the Clinical Trials Roadmap, improved graphical and simplified PICF (NationalPICF, InformedPICF), health literary editors to improve communication, partnering with consumers in priority-setting partnerships, using existing safe technologies like REDCap and MyCap, asking the best patient-focused questions, and collecting only the data you need, taking advantage of novel data collection methods like ambient AI transcription, and leveraging the movement to implement clinical quality registries in Australia to conduct pragmatic registry randomised trials, like SWEDEHEART and other great examples.
