Also, we're never going to agree on this part about the GM. He's not in charge of managing the team. He's in charge of building it. Managing personalities is a secondary component. You can say "it's a leadership position," but the CEO doesn't manage the personalities of people 2-3 rungs below them

At the end of the day, I think he’s done a fine but not great job. We’ll see how they build on this in the off-season. It’s been A LOT of reliance on prospects but that was always their plan. They likely need a big SP this offseason and maybe a 1B depending on Casas.

I think we both agree it’s PART of the job. We disagree that is foundational for the GM to manage personalities of players. It’s something he needs to be better at, but it’s not the main part of being a GM. He has one HUGE strike against him and (a bad deadline) but a few really good marks for him

Sure but, again, him botching that is a different argument than saying a GM’s job is to manage the personalities of players

I think you’ll see how bad he screwed it up this offseason. If people still want to sign with Boston then Breslow’s lack of people skills isn’t as big of an issue as others want to believe. If they don’t sign then we can more clearly say his demeanor or personality is hurting the team

Part of your job, yes. I don’t think managing players is the most important part of a GM’s job. That’s what the manager is for. If they work together, the GM builds a team that the manager can manage. Breslow and Cora didn’t work together this offseason. They botched it
