I thought I'd share some early summer cheer as we head into winter— a video of my wisteria walkway in full bloom taken a couple of years ago. 🌱 #gardening

A ridiculous amount! 🤣

Finished work a bit early so took the opportunity to get my new fig, lemon & olive trees planted. In their temporary spot until the garden room is reorganised. Now for a well earned cup of tea. 😊🌱

I was tempted to plant one, but was a bit worried about the Yorkshire winter temps.

My first time trying so fingers crossed 🤞

Spotted today basking in the sunshine. The fallen leaves in the borders will provide a safe haven over the cold months to come. 🌱 #GardensHour

If the last few days are anything to go by I’ll be obsessed all month checking on my new tree fern. Won’t be long before I have to insulate it for winter. 🌱 #GardensHour

Another October task, to scarify the orchard floor and over sow more wildflower seeds. Also have some more snowdrops to plant. 🌱 #GardensHour

Morning all. Third day of really strong winds, hopefully will get better if the forecast is correct. Annual trip to the optician, which I dread, later but I’m also hoping to shop at the garden centre for some new plant pots too. Hope you’re having a lovely start to the week 😊🌱

Lovely, one of my favourite roses. Doubt my late blooms will have survived the storm though.

Fingers crossed Mike. Still very strong winds & rain 😟

Morning all. Didn’t get much sleep last night due to #StormAmy battering the house & garden. Front door large pots smashed over & a couple of roof tiles gone. Still blowing a hoolie so not venturing out. Keep safe everyone 😊 🌱

Lots of fungi in the garden today 🌱

Dahlias are quite hardy temp wise, it's the wet that rots them. If good drainage, I dont lift them. When I do I remove as much soil as poss, place upside down so moisture drains out the cut stem. After 3 weeks I lay them in trays & cover with vermiculite or spent compost. Store somewhere cool & dry

I'm in Yorkshire. I've planted in a shady spot where there are lots of ferns so hoping it will thrive. I apply a deep mulch (about 10cm of shredded material each year to this border, which helps prevent surface evaporation. I will be keeping a close eye on it & will be protecting it over winter

It is genus Dicksonia, which dates back to the Jurassic period. It grows in full or partial shade & likes consistently moist soil & rainier climes, so good for wet, temperate regions.
